The Centre for Mechanical Engineering Sciences (CEMES) was launched as Centre for Applied Mechanics, Design and Manufacturing (CAMDM) was launched in June 2008 and renamed in November 2008 to CEMES. Its aim is to facilitate research in various fields of mechanical engineering and, as much as possible, to align it with the MMU R&D Roadmap. In addition, CEMES is (or will be) involved in several activities, such as providing technical consultancy to domestic industrial enterprises, conducting short courses in certain fields of mechanical engineering, collaborating with local or overseas universities/research institutions, etc.
