Dr. Sim Kok Swee Won a Gold Medal at ITEX ‘08




Headed by Dr. Sim Kok Swee, the Centre for Image Processing & Telemedicine (CIPTEM) of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) won a Gold medal for their research project entitled "Canny Optimisation Technique for Creativity Image Colourisation" under the category of Multimedia. Other team members of the winning team include H. Y. Ting, L. Chang, and M. A. Lai.



The 19th International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition or better known as ITEX '08, is Malaysia’s leading platform for universities, research institutions, individual inventors and corporate companies to showcase inventions, new technologies and products. It was organised by the Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS) and was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 9th to 11th May 2008. MMU proved its metal in R&D when two MMU research projects won a Gold and Silver medal for the categories of Multimedia and Educational Items.

FET ROBOCON Team Won Champion and Best Engineering Award in ROBOCON 2008




A big congratulation goes out to our FET ROBOCON team for its victorious success in winning first prize in ROBOCON 2008 competition! After going through many difficult and challenging stages, our ROBOCON team managed to defeat 62 teams from 32 universities in Malaysia to the number one position!

The FET ROBOCON team has emerged as champion in the ROBOCON 2008 national level robot building competition held on 30 March 2008 in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi. The team also won the Best Engineering Award. By winning this competition, MMU will represent Malaysia in the Asia Pacific ROBOCON Tournament in Pune, India, in August 2008.
